  ✏️📚 Writing with a Purpose! 📚✏️

  At St Gregory’s, we believe that writing is even more meaningful when children have a real purpose and audience for their work!

  Across school, our children have been busy becoming authors, storytellers and information experts! 🌟

  📖 We have created our very own books to share in our school library.

  🗣️ We have written and shared stories with our friends and peers.

  👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 We have proudly shared our stories with parents, celebrating our hard work and creativity.

  🐒 We have even created information posters and sent them off to Blackpool Zoo!

  By giving our children a real reason to write, we are helping them develop pride, confidence and excitement in their writing. After all, writing isn't just for our exercise books – it's a way to share our ideas, knowledge and creativity with the wider world! 💚💛

• Autumn 1 in Year 1!

  🌟 What a busy half term in Year 1! 🌟

  We have had a fantastic half term filled with lots of exciting learning experiences! 📚✨

  🔢 In Maths, we have been developing our number skills, including ordering numbers from 1–10.

  💪 During our Commando Joe sessions, we have been working together, building our confidence, developing teamwork skills and showing resilience!

  🐦 In RE, we have been exploring Laudato Si’ and learning about the importance of caring for God's wonderful world. We put this into action by making our very own bird feeders to help look after the birds around us! 🌍💚

  👀👂👃✋ In Science, we have been exploring our five senses through lots of fun, hands-on activities, discovering how we use our senses to understand the world around us!

  We are so proud of how hard our Year 1 children have worked and how much enthusiasm they have shown towards their learning!

  What a brilliant start to the school year! 🌟👏

  

• 💻 Year 6 Computing Workshop! 🤖

  Year 6 have been getting creative in their computing workshop using FlockXR to design and code some amazing characters! It’s been fantastic to see their creativity, problem-solving skills and coding come to life!

  All our classes have now begun myHappymind! This programme helps children understand how their brains work, manage their emotions and build confidence, resilience and positive relationships.

• Year 1 Trip!

  Year 1 had a great time at the Sealife Centre for their trip last week! We had a workshop where we looked at different habitats. 

  

• Year 6 Visits Barnum at the Blackpool Winter Gardens.

  Year 6 had a fantastic afternoon at the Blackpool Winter Gardens where they watched the spectacular musical Barnum. 

   

  The trip, which was fully funded by the school, gave every child the opportunity to experience the excitement of live theatre. The performance provided plenty of inspiration as the children continue preparing for their own end-of-year production.

   

  Watching the professional cast perform allowed the pupils to appreciate the acting, singing, dancing, costumes and staging involved in bringing a musical to life. They returned to school full of enthusiasm, with lots of creative ideas that they are looking forward to incorporating into their own performance.

   

  It was a memorable experience for everyone!

  

• Year 6 Residential Visit to Tower Wood, Lake Windermere

  Our Year 6 pupils recently returned from a fantastic residential visit to Tower Wood on the shores of Lake Windermere.

   

  During the visit, the children took part in a range of exciting outdoor activities, including kayaking, canoeing, climbing, ghyll scrambling, orienteering and raft building. They embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, resilience and determination, growing in confidence and developing new skills along the way.

   

  The residential also provided valuable opportunities for pupils to build independence, strengthen friendships and work together as a team. They supported one another throughout the week and created memories that will stay with them for years to come.

  

• Year 1 DT Pencil Pots

  Year 1 have been working very hard to design and create their own sturdy pencil pots using toilet rolls, modelling dough and masking tape. Well done, Year 1 – you’ve all done a fantastic job! ⭐
