  • Writing with a purpose!

    Wed 21 Oct 2026

    βœοΈπŸ“š Writing with a Purpose! πŸ“šβœοΈ

At St Gregory’s, we believe that writing is even more meaningful when children have a real purpose and audience for their work!

Across school, our children have been busy becoming authors, storytellers and information experts! 🌟

πŸ“– We have created our very own books to share in our school library.

πŸ—£οΈ We have written and shared stories with our friends and peers.

πŸ‘¨‍πŸ‘©‍πŸ‘§‍πŸ‘¦ We have proudly shared our stories with parents, celebrating our hard work and creativity.

πŸ’ We have even created information posters and sent them off to Blackpool Zoo!

By giving our children a real reason to write, we are helping them develop pride, confidence and excitement in their writing. After all, writing isn't just for our exercise books – it's a way to share our ideas, knowledge and creativity with the wider world! πŸ’šπŸ’›

    Little writers, big purposes! ✨

πŸ”’ In Maths, we have been developing our number skills, including ordering numbers from 1–10.

πŸ’ͺ During our Commando Joe sessions, we have been working together, building our confidence, developing teamwork skills and showing resilience!

🐦 In RE, we have been exploring Laudato Si’ and learning about the importance of caring for God's wonderful world. We put this into action by making our very own bird feeders to help look after the birds around us! πŸŒπŸ’š

πŸ‘€πŸ‘‚πŸ‘ƒβœ‹ In Science, we have been exploring our five senses through lots of fun, hands-on activities, discovering how we use our senses to understand the world around us!

We are so proud of how hard our Year 1 children have worked and how much enthusiasm they have shown towards their learning!

What a brilliant start to the school year! πŸŒŸπŸ‘
