Hello & Welcome to Year 5,
In year 5, you will find Mrs Stuart (Class Teacher) and Mrs Kaba (Class Teaching Assistant). All members of staff in Year 5 work together to provide your child with a high-quality education, aiming to make lessons 'Meaningful, Memorable and Motivating.' We strive to make learning enjoyable in Year 5, we aim to incorporate the 'Seven Skills of the Steward' in our learning to ensure that all children succeed as young learners of the future. We focus on skills such as resilience, empathy, gratitude, peace-making, problem-solving, team-working and creativity. In year 5 our skill focus is empathy.
Home learning is an important part of children’s education which we aim to make accessible for all children. Please encourage your child to complete their home learning every week as it will have an impact on their learning in school. Reading is an integral part of a child’s education, therefore listening to your child reading at home is extremely important. On Mondays reading homework is due in as well as a signature to say that your child has read at home. We will continue to use Spelling Shed where your child can practise their spellings through fun and interactive games. It is also important that your child continues to practise their times tables as this will help them in their learning – hit the button is a great way to practise. If your child is struggling with homework at home, please come pop me a message via class dojo.
In the Spring Term, Year 5's PE lessons will take place on a Thursday and Friday afternoon, please ensure that your child comes to school wearing their full PE kit on these days. If you'd like to take a look at what we are learning about, please see our long term plan in the link below.
Each week two/three pupils plan a Prayer and Liturgy session. They will deliver this to the rest of the class on a Wednesday afternoon.
We look forward to the year ahead.
Mrs Stuart & Mrs Kaba 😊
