Geography at St. Gregory's

At St Gregory’s, the curriculum our children experience enables us to live out our Mission Slogan:

Loving all, like Jesus, we flourish together.

We aim to enable all our children to flourish, regardless of background or disposition by offering a rich and informed curriculum packed with opportunities for all our children to experience ‘life to the full’ (John 10:10).

As an integral part of our curriculum, pupils at St Gregory’s use a high-quality Geography education to inspire in pupils a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Teaching equips pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments, together with a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes. As pupils progress, their growing knowledge about the world helps them to deepen their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. Geographical knowledge, understanding and skills provide the frameworks and approaches that explain how the Earth’s features at different scales are shaped, interconnected and change over time.

We follow the Oddizzi Scheme of work to teach our Geography curriculumOddizzi is an e-learning resource and community that immerses children in the real world. It enables children – wherever they are – to ‘break out’ of their own world and join a global community of like-minded children.  Children using Oddizzi can view the world through the eyes of people who are passionate about the places they are sharing. It carefully builds a solid understanding of the people, places and cultures of the world.
