Autumn 2
HRSE Purposeful End Point - What Keeps Us Safe

This half-term, the children were learning about What Keeps Us Safe. They explored risks and hazards that they may come across and the important role that our emergency services have within our community. For our Purposeful End Point, the children were invited to come into school dressed as an emergency service worker. In the lesson, we also looked at simple first aid and the children acted out these scenarios.
DT Unit: Castle Structures

Children worked in groups of 3 to create their castles structures. They had to ensure it was stable, strong and secure. They then presented their castles to the reception class as part of their Purposeful End Point. They told them what each part of the castle is called and what it's function is.
Maths Purposeful End Point - Multiplication and Division

The children became Zoo Keepers for the lesson. They had to imagine that they were workers at Chester Zoo and complete animal related maths.
Maths Purposeful End Point - Addition and Subtraction

To finish our Addition and Subtraction unit, the children used the column method to calculate the total cost of Mrs Grime's bedroom renovation. They then needed to use their subtraction skills to calculate how much Mrs Grime would save with a £900 budget.
