The Tin Forest
Our fiction text for this half-term was The Tin Forest. The children focused on the use of prepositions in the text and tried to apply this in their own writing. They also looked at inverted commas and how they are used to punctuate speech. They did really well with this. As their final piece, the children had to innovate their own story based on The Tin Forest. They came up with some wonderful ideas and showed off their skills.
Maths Purposeful End Point - Place Value
To finish our Place Value unit, the children applied their comparing and ordering skills when ordering the children's points on MathShed. The children used their teamworking skills to do this. They did really well and even worked with numbers greater than 1000.
Mission Day
To celebrate the centenary of our Parish, the children explored what school life was like 100 years ago. They explored how the area changed by looking at OS Maps. They noticed how the church used to be where the school hall is now. The children also looked at some old-fashioned games that they would play like duck-duck-goose and hopscotch.
